Season Summary

The San Miguel Beermen were the oddsmakers' choice as pre-season favorites when the 19th PBA season started, and was expected to figure in the championships for the year, with the entry of the triggerman Allan Caidic from the disbanded Presto Ice Cream ballclub, teaming up with his former NCC teammates, Samboy Lim and Hector Calma, joining forces with last season's MVP Renato Agustin, in a triple-offensive treat at the backcourt, the beermen made it to the All-Filipino Cup finals, but lost in six games to the equally talented Coney Island Ice Cream stars (formerly Purefoods), after placing third in the Commissioner's Cup, San Miguel Beer won the season-ending Governor's Cup trophy with best import Kenny Travis helping his team to a 4-1 finals victory over Tony Harris led-Swift.
